Lady Alexandra’s Excellent Adventure:
A Summersby Tale – Book 1 – Coming May 22nd 2012
It’s going to be a wild ride . . .
Lady Alexandra Summersby is not your average society miss. Not only is she more likely to climb a tree than she is to wear a dress, but she has also sworn off marriage. Alex loves taking chances, which is how she finds herself embroiled in a secret mission as she races across the country with the Earl of Trenton. But Alexandra is about to discover that the real danger lies not in duels, but in her completely unexpected reaction to Lord Trenton’s company.
Michael Ashford, Earl of Trenton, is a man of duty. Honorable, charming, and a hit with the ladies, he’s never had trouble staying focused—until now. Lady Alexandra is like no other woman he’s ever met, and suddenly the prospect of marriage seems far more appealing. Now, to convince Alexandra that a life together could be an adventure like no other . . .

Having just finished writing How Miss Ruthrford Got Her Groove Back, I decided to try something a little more adventurous. Inspired by Shakespeare’s A Comedy of Errors, in which I once played the part of Adriana, I quickly started jotting down ideas. Before I knew it, I’d developed a tough as nails heroine who, underneath her hard exterior, is in fact quite vulnerable. As for the hero…well, he’s a man of action – strong, handsome (but of course) and bound by honor, he will allow no-one to stop him from completing his task. He’s also more level-headed whereas the heroine tends to act a bit more on impulse.
The apartment building where Michael and Alexandra stay whilst in Paris, is based on the place where I once lived.
The interior of the Tuileries palace (A building no longer in existence) has been mostly based on N. Robinson’s account in Frank Leslie’s Popular Monthly, Volume 17, from January 1884.
Mary Croyden, my heroine from A Dose of Romance – the sequel to this book – makes a cameo appearance towards the end.
The working title for this book was A Change of Heart.
